ABB Robots Boost Battery Production by 6X at InoBat
ZURICH, SWITZERLAND, 25th APRIL, 2025-ABB has announced a significant automation milestone with its latest robotics deployment, enabling a six-fold increase in throughput for InoBat, a European battery manufacturer.
The partnership focuses on scaling battery production to meet the surging demand for energy storage in electric vehicles and grid applications.
The installation of ABB’s FlexArc® robotic cells and OmniCore™ controllers has transformed InoBat’s manufacturing lines, delivering consistent high-speed welding and assembly of battery modules.
The move supports InoBat’s expansion strategy in Central and Eastern Europe, where demand for localized battery production is rising rapidly.
“By integrating ABB’s robotic systems, we’ve not only increased throughput but significantly improved process accuracy and safety,”
said Pavol Široký, CEO of InoBat.
ABB stated that its automation solutions reduced downtime and allowed InoBat to accelerate time-to-market for its lithium-ion battery modules.
“Automation is the backbone of scalable battery production,”
said Joerg Reger, Managing Director of ABB Robotics Automotive Business Line.
“This deployment proves how robotics can be a competitive differentiator in Europe’s growing EV ecosystem.”
This strategic deployment comes amid growing European efforts to localize battery supply chains and reduce reliance on imports. With increasing policy support and EV adoption, manufacturers are racing to scale up production efficiently.
ABB confirmed that the robotic integration also reduced operational energy usage, aligning with sustainability goals.
The company plans further expansions of its robotics offerings tailored to battery and energy storage sectors. More updates are expected as ABB explores similar deployments with additional European partners.
