PETALING JAYA,7th APRIL , 2025 – A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between CelcomDigi Berhad and Ericsson Malaysia for the joint development of AI-enabled autonomous network operations and the transformation of the digital infrastructure of Malaysia. 

This optimization will use intent-based automation and AI analytics to enhance user experience by ensuring peak network performance at a time when Malaysia is experiencing widespread 5G adoption.

For Ericsson’s AI Intent-Based Operations (IBO), CelcomDigi will leverage the company’s global capability to fast-track the modernization of its network. With an emphasis on managing the increasing complexity of connected devices for the delivery of superior 5G services to enterprises and consumers alike.

The effective implementation of AI-driven automation will accelerate efficiency and responsiveness in network operations. Quality and reliability of 5G service assurance overall are key, enhanced through customer experience programs involving predictive analytics and self-healing networks.

According to CelcomDigi’s CEO Datuk Idham Nawawi, this initiative is of strategic importance: “Malaysia’s 5G adoption is accelerating, and thus it is critical that we evolve our network capabilities to manage increasing complexity while delivering a superior customer experience. As an extension of our ongoing partnership with Ericsson, we are taking steps towards intent-based autonomous networks, harnessing AI and automation to transform how networks operate, optimise performance, and improve sustainability.”

In agreement, David Hägerbro President and CEO of Ericsson Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh, said,
