TEANECK, N.J., May 22, 2025 — A truly significant step to democratize agentic AI saw Cognizant open-sourcing its Neuro® AI Multi-Agent Accelerator, thus giving researchers and developers all access to a powerful platform on which they can build scalable AI agent networks.

The idea here is to foster fast innovation and adoption in agent-based systems across industries, which requires lowering the barrier for prototype deployment.

Neuro® Accelerator is geared toward designing and orchestrating multi-agent systems for real-time decision-making, process automation, and adaptive operations.

Although the open-source release will be used for research and academia, Cognizant offers an enterprise-grade solution through its Multi-Agent Services Suite for agencies to scale their networks in production while maintaining security and efficiency.

“To stay competitive in the era of agentic AI, enterprises must be free to experiment—to explore how agents can transform business processes and drive operational efficiencies,”

Said Babak Hodjat, Chief Technology Officer of AI at Cognizant.

“By open-sourcing the Neuro AI Multi-Agent Accelerator, we’re expanding access to our cutting-edge multi-agent technology—empowering developers to innovate faster, and enabling decision-makers, regardless of technical background, to rapidly prototype systems and directly observe their impact on key performance indicators.”

With the market for AI agents deemed to balloon from $5.1 billion in 2024 to $47.1 billion by 2030, Cognizant is far ahead in this dynamic market because of this act.

Those customers, including Telstra, have since commenced piloting agentic solutions with the platform, revealing that it has enhanced their velocity, quality, and efficiency in their software development lifecycles.

“The open sourcing of the Neuro AI Multi-Agent Accelerator will further empower our teams to rapidly prototype and integrate existing AI agents, and help accelerate our software development lifecycle,”

Said Telstra’s Group Executive for Product and Technology, Kim Krogh Andersen.

“We’re already starting to see the potential for gains in quality, velocity, and efficiency as a result.”

Developed at Cognizant AI Lab, the Accelerator lets customers hook in third-party systems such as Salesforce’s Agentforce and Google’s Agentspace via the Model Context Protocol (MCP).

It is suitable for distributed, scalable applications, supports secure data handling, and is LLM/cloud-agnostic. Key features include intelligent opportunity discovery, rapid customization, private data channels, and agent testing capabilities.

“Agentforce is built on Salesforce’s deeply unified platform that is open and extensible, empowering our ecosystem of partners and builders to innovate with AI that’s grounded in trust. Cognizant’s decision to open source its Neuro AI Multi-Agent Accelerator exemplifies the kind of partnership that helps our customers move faster and innovate with confidence,”

Said Gary Lerhaupt, Vice President of Product Architecture, Salesforce.

“Together, we’re enabling enterprises to deploy agents that think, collaborate, and deliver value across every corner of their business.”

Notably, Cognizant’s internal intranet assistant, 1Cognizant, now serves 330,000 employees by coordinating agents for tasks like travel, HR queries, and meeting logistics, demonstrating the system’s power in real-world use.
