Ericsson and ACES-NH Introduce Shared 5G Indoor Connectivity in Saudi Arabia
SAUDI ARABIA, 12th February 2025 – A shared 5G indoor connectivity solution was recently applied by Ericsson and Advanced Communications and Electronics Systems (ACES), an international neutral host provider, for the use of major communications service providers in Saudi Arabia. This is a step forward in enhancing indoor mobile coverage in support of Saudi Vision 2030’s digital transformation and modernization of infrastructure development.
Set up under a Neutral Host Provider agreement for three years, this solution permits multiple telecom operators to share the same 5G indoor infrastructure. Such an approach enables maximum operational efficiencies while lowering costs, hence providing users with seamless and high-quality connectivity irrespective of the networks they are using. This deployment utilizes Ericsson’s Radio Dot System to boost coverage and performance in high-traffic areas such as airports, hospitals, shared stadiums, and offices.
Dr. Khalid Al-Mashouq, Chief Executive Officer of ACES-NH, says: “This milestone underscores our commitment to building innovative solutions that meet the growing connectivity needs in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. By leveraging a neutral host model, we are enabling seamless communication for operators and their customers, ensuring they have access to world-class connectivity in even the busiest indoor environments. This collaboration is a testament to our shared vision for progress and innovation in the telecommunications sector.”
Håkan Cervell, Vice President and Head of Ericsson Saudi Arabia at Ericsson Middle East and Africa, says: “The deployment of this shared indoor solution with ACES-NH is a significant step forward for 5G connectivity in the Kingdom. This achievement reflects our commitment to driving digital transformation and delivering solutions that empower operators and enhance end-user experiences.
With a shared history of delivering transformative telecommunications projects we, along with ACES-NH, are aiming to exemplify our ability to meet the demands of today’s digital landscape while setting a global benchmark for indoor connectivity solutions, in alignment with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.”
