Honeywell and Google Cloud Launch AI-Powered Smart Shopping Platform
Honeywell unveiled its AI-powered Smart Shopping Platform, developed in partnership with Google Cloud and 66degrees, aiming to revolutionize the in-store shopping experience globally. By leveraging Google’s Gemini and Google Cloud’s Vertex AI, the platform enables shoppers to quickly find desired products, compare similar items, and discover suitable alternatives when items are out of stock, ultimately making shopping faster, more convenient, and more enjoyable.
“There is nothing more frustrating than roaming through a store unable to find the last item on your grocery list or forgetting the key part needed to complete a home repair,” said David Barker, president, Honeywell Productivity Solutions and Services. “The Smart Shopping Platform addresses these pain points, creating a better experience for shoppers. Retailers also benefit from an ’out of the box’ AI solution they can implement without having to maintain a team of AI experts.”

Designed as a cloud-based solution, the Smart Shopping Platform bridges a retailer’s digital data with the physical store environment. Built on Honeywell’s Mobility Edge hardware and software platform and powered by Google Cloud AI, it delivers personalized guidance, real-time product information, and dynamic recommendations, bringing the convenience of online shopping into the brick-and-mortar store.
“The Smart Shopping Platform uses Google Cloud’s AI to turn Honeywell devices into intelligent companions for both shoppers and staff,” said Jose Gomes, vice president, Retail and Consumer Packaged Goods, Google Cloud. “This collaboration integrates AI with specialized hardware to streamline operations inside the retail store and guide consumers through an efficient and delightful shopping journey. It’s a win-win that helps retailers increase basket size while building deeper customer loyalty.”
Consumers using Honeywell devices, such as the CS32 Personal Shopper, can link their loyalty accounts to unlock tailored recommendations based on purchase history, preferences, complementary products, and available promotions. Additionally, the platform provides step-by-step in-store navigation and suggests suitable alternatives when items are unavailable, mirroring the seamless experience of e-commerce.
Retail associates also benefit from the platform, transforming into in-house experts. With devices like the Honeywell CT70, employees can quickly offer personalized guidance, helping shoppers locate products efficiently. For instance, staff can instantly find the new location of a customer’s favorite dairy-free cereal. Currently, thousands of retail associates across grocery chains, big-box stores, specialty shops, and department stores rely on Honeywell devices to enhance service and efficiency.
The launch highlights the ongoing partnership between Honeywell and Google Cloud, aimed at advancing AI-driven retail solutions across industries. The Smart Shopping Platform will be available to customers starting February 2026, promising to redefine how retailers engage with shoppers in-store.
