Inside IBM’s Bold Acquisition of HashiCorp: What It Means for the Future of Cloud Technology
ARMONK, NEW YORK- FEBRUARY 28th, 2025- IBM has completed the purchase of HashiCorp for $6.4 billion as a means to bolster its hybrid cloud and AI services. This purchase allows fusion between HashiCorp’s multi-cloud infrastructure automation tools like Terraform and Vault, providing clients with tools to efficiently manage complex cloud environments.
According to Arvind Krishna, IBM Chairman and CEO,
“HashiCorp has a proven track record of enabling clients to manage the complexity of today’s infrastructure and application sprawl.”
HashiCorp’s co founder and Chief Technology Officer ,Armon Dadgar stated,
“I’m incredibly excited by today’s news and to be joining IBM to accelerate HashiCorp’s mission and expand access to our products to an even broader set of developers and enterprises.”
The acquisition was first made in April 2024 but was delayed due to waiting for approval from the Competition and MFA in the UK, which occurred on February 25, 2025.
HashiCorp will function as a subdivision of IBM software and will continue developing their product suite with the support of IBM’s global infrastructure.
