MakeMyTrip, India’s leading online travel company, has announced a new collaboration with OpenAI to accelerate AI-led travel discovery and better capture high-intent travel queries. With this move, the company aims to reshape how travellers explore, plan, and book their journeys through more conversational and personalised experiences.

As part of this partnership, MakeMyTrip is integrating OpenAI’s APIs into its app to introduce advanced AI-driven features. These upgrades allow travellers to smoothly transition from simply seeking inspiration to completing bookings directly within MakeMyTrip’s Myra interface. In doing so, the company strengthens its position at the centre of AI-powered travel planning, where conversations increasingly guide customer decisions.

Moreover, this collaboration enhances MakeMyTrip’s ability to respond quickly to changing travel intent. Instead of relying only on traditional search visibility, the company now actively participates in AI-led discovery journeys. By converting conversational travel queries into structured, transaction-ready options, MakeMyTrip ensures users receive bookable outcomes across flights, hotels, and additional services.

Rajesh Magow, Co-Founder and Group CEO, MakeMyTrip, highlighted the importance of this collaboration, saying, “Our collaboration with OpenAI ensures that when travellers start their journey through conversation, MakeMyTrip becomes a seamless extension of that discovery process. When AI is anchored in MakeMyTrip’s proprietary travel data and deeply integrated into the marketplace, it moves beyond inspiration to deliver personalised, bookable outcomes at scale. This is about transforming curiosity into confident decisions.”

Similarly, Oliver Jay, Managing Director, International, OpenAI, emphasised how AI can redefine consumer travel experiences. He stated, “MakeMyTrip is using OpenAI’s APIs to make travel planning feel less like filtering and more like a conversation, with recommendations and itineraries that reflect what a traveler actually wants. Advanced AI is not just about enterprises and how they use it internally, but how they can also transform their consumers’ experience and engagement with the platform.”

Notably, MakeMyTrip has been investing in AI and machine learning for several years. The company has embedded intelligence across the entire travel lifecycle, from discovery and search to booking and post-sales support. Its proprietary models, built on large language architectures and extensive travel-intent data, have powered key innovations such as Myra, the GenAI Trip Planning Assistant.

Today, Myra facilitates more than 50,000 conversations daily across multiple languages, including Bengali, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and English. Additionally, its growing vernacular voice capabilities are expanding travel access for users in Tier-2 and smaller cities. In fact, over 45% of queries now come from non-metro regions, where voice-led interactions remain significantly higher.

Through this OpenAI partnership, MakeMyTrip is set to redefine travel discovery by turning curiosity into seamless, confident booking decisions at scale.
