MindMap AI Launches MCP Server for Claude and ChatGPT Mind Maps

MindMap AI’s MCP integration lets users generate, edit, and sync mind maps directly in Claude and ChatGPT, with every map saved to their account.

MindMap AI, the visual mind mapping platform operated by 3axislabs Inc., today announced the general availability of the MindMap AI MCP Server, connecting MindMap AI directly to Claude and ChatGPT. The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard that lets AI assistants securely connect to external tools and act on a user’s behalf.

The integration is live in both directories: MindMap AI is available as a connector in the Claude directory and as an app in ChatGPT. It allows users to generate, edit, and organize mind maps from natural conversation in either assistant, without switching between apps or manually rebuilding structure by hand.

As more knowledge work happens inside AI chat interfaces, teams are looking for ways to turn conversation into structured, visual output on the spot. Brainstorms, research sessions, and planning discussions routinely produce ideas faster than they can be organized, and until now, turning that conversation into a usable visual structure has meant leaving the chat, opening a separate tool, and manually rebuilding what was just discussed.

MindMap AI’s MCP Server closes that gap by letting AI assistants create and modify maps directly from within Claude or ChatGPT, using the same account and permissions a user already has in MindMap AI, so structure is captured the moment an idea takes shape rather than after the fact.

What sets the integration apart is full two way editing. Many early MCP implementations limit AI assistants to reading existing data or generating a one shot output. MindMap AI’s server lets the assistant keep working on a map across an entire conversation: expanding branches, adding relationship arrows, grouping ideas with summary brackets, switching layouts, and reorganizing structure on request. Refinements like restructuring, renaming, styling, and layout changes never consume credits, so a map can be reworked as many times as the conversation demands.

Key capabilities of the MindMap AI MCP Server:

1. Generate maps from conversation: Turn a brainstorm, meeting summary, or research thread into a structured mind map directly inside Claude or ChatGPT. Users can describe a topic, paste in notes, or continue a conversation already in progress, and the assistant builds the corresponding map automatically.

2. Two-way editing that never stops: The assistant can create new maps and keep editing existing ones through natural language: adding branches, drawing relationship arrows to build concept maps, grouping ideas with summary brackets, renaming topics, and switching between mind map, logic chart, and org chart layouts. Refinements never consume credits.

3. Sync across workflows: Maps created or edited through AI chat are saved to the user’s MindMap AI account, one map, always current, immediately available on the full canvas at mindmapai.app, with no export step or file to re-upload.

4. Works within existing permissions: The MCP Server operates entirely within a user’s existing MindMap AI account and access rights, authorized through a standard OAuth flow. The assistant can only view or modify maps the authenticated user is already permitted to access, so the integration works within the boundaries teams have already set.

MindMap AI plans to expand the MCP Server’s capabilities in future releases, including support for additional AI platforms and expanded collaboration features for teams working on shared maps.
