Paubox Opens HIPAA Compliant Forms to AI Agents

Paubox has made its HIPAA compliant forms callable by AI agents. An agent can pull a form’s questions, collect a patient’s answers in conversation, and submit the completed response into Paubox. The record lands under the same business associate agreement (BAA) that covers the rest of the platform.

The connection runs over the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard for giving AI assistants access to outside systems. Paubox hosts a server at mcp.paubox.com exposing 30 tools across email, forms, and email marketing, and any client that follows the protocol can connect. The same form commands are available from a command line tool, for scripts and automated pipelines rather than chat.

The Paubox API key is supplied by the connector or the server environment rather than typed into the conversation. A key can only reach forms belonging to its own account. Fetching a form and submitting a response require no key at all, so an agent can complete an intake without ever holding a credential.

Agents can build the forms as well as fill them. Someone can describe a form to Claude in plain language and the Paubox connector creates it. What an agent builds does not go live on its own: by default a generated form lands in the Drafts tab, where a person reviews it and clicks publish.

Paubox Forms ships with 11 templates spanning intake, consent, clinical, patient experience, and operations.

Submissions are stored on Paubox’s HITRUST certified infrastructure and encrypted in transit and at rest. Access through the API, the MCP server, and the command line is included at no additional cost with every paid Paubox plan.
