AI Startup ReactWise Raises $3.4M to Enhance AI Drug Labs
Cambridge, UK, 18th March 2025 – Aiding artificial intelligence (AI) and autonomous laboratories, a Cambridge-based startup, ReactWise has revolutionized the use of AI in pharmaceutical manufacturing and has set out to receive $3.4 million in pre-pricing funding.
Venture capitalists and angel investors, as well as Y Combinator and Innovate UK, were attracted by this funding round with promises toward progress aiding sustainable pharmaceutical manufacturing driven by AI.
Co-founder and CEO Alexander Pomberger pointed out that traditional methods of drug development is quite inefficient by explaining,
“The drug development pipeline is often driven by trial-and-error and held up for many months during the identification of scalable manufacturing processes, delaying clinical trials.”
He further stressed that models powered with AI created by ReactWise can increase workflow productivity by 30 times and cut down the experimental work requirement by nearly 95%. After completing the ReactWise Y Combinator’s summer 2024 batch, they have enhanced their software and currently have 12 ongoing pilot studies with leading pharmaceutical companies.
Using their proprietary reactivity models, they have screened thousands of chemical reactions in their robotic laboratory. With the aim of being the next generation intelligence layer in R&D in pharmaceuticals, ReactWise seeks to integrate with automated lab infrastructure and electronic lab notebooks, serving as the other side of the shoebox.
CTO and Co-Founder Daniel Wigh further elaborated the technology explaining,
“With the help of AI, ReactWise allows chemists to input a drug molecule and receive an autonomous optimized, scalable manufacturing process—completed by a self-driving laboratory that adjusts parameters in real-time.”
He also noted that this method increases the speed of drug manufacturing and improves sustainability by minimizing chemical byproducts, energy, and raw material costs. As the market needs more efficient and low-cost environmentally friendly solutions, ReactWise stands ready to transform the pharmaceutical industry.
