Samsung is taking smart home living a step further with a brand-new software update for its 2025 Bespoke AI Refrigerators. This smart appliance has been designed specifically to make our everyday experiences easier, more tailor-made to you, and more connected when we are in our kitchen.

The main feature that will sit within this update is Samsung’s newly launched Voice ID feature. Powered by the capabilities of Samsung’s AI assistant Bixby, imagine a fridge that recognises who is speaking, that you are not imagining; it is very much now reality. Whether it’s your voice, your partner’s or another family member, your fridge will recognize all voices and be instantly directed to your Samsung account. You will be able to check your calendar, see your photos or find your lost phone by delivering voice only commands like you would want from a google home or voice activated item.

Voice ID also has the benefit of being accessible. If you are a user of Galaxy products and have visual enhancements such as color inverted or grayscale, the refrigerator will be able to mirror what’s visually updated on your smart device, without you doing any extra work, just speak and seamlessly have a refrigerator respond to you the way you prefer it to be tailored to you.

Samsung is now doing more to engage with Bixby, letting users wake it more easily, thus you now have the option of activating it after using the hard press, by simply double tapping the screen whether on or off.

Users can activate the fridge through a selection of methods in the settings.

But the upgrade doesn’t stop there. Samsung TV Plus, the brand’s free-to-air streaming service, is also expanding. While it was only available in South Korea and the U.S., its availability is going worldwide – literally, from your fridge to Canada and also to places like Brazil, Australia, Mexico, and India. So now you can catch up on your latest news whilst you are preparing food, or simply when grabbing a snack!

The rollout will begin with the 2025 models, which will have the AI Family Hub, and there will later be features with AI Home, within the second quarter of the year. What Samsung sees as the first event to this experience, who will later introduce AI Home and see how it develops to create an intuitive AI Home that learns and adapts to each user, with continual updates.

With this new revelation of Samsung introducing the experience of making your refrigerator not only smart, but also personalized and entertaining, connected home is a step closer! A massive leap towards moving the world we dream about with AI living a part of daily life!
