As connected devices grow more diverse, operators need deeper visibility to manage performance and security.

CUJO AI, a global leader in device intelligence, network intelligence, and cybersecurity for network service providers, today announced that it has surpassed four billion devices identified across its global deployments, adding another billion to its count in just two years.

The milestone points to a growing challenge for broadband operators: as the number and diversity of connected devices increase, delivering reliable connectivity is no longer only about monitoring the network. Operators increasingly need to understand what is connected, how each device behaves, and what kind of experience it requires.

Gaming consoles, security cameras, work laptops, smart televisions, and connected appliances all place different demands on the home network. Without accurate device-level context, operators have limited visibility into the causes of performance problems, the security risks present in the home, and the experiences individual customers are receiving.

“You cannot automate or optimize a network around devices you cannot identify,” said Remko Vos, CEO of CUJO AI. “Broadband has traditionally been managed around connections, speeds, and network-level metrics, but customers experience connectivity through applications and devices. Understanding that context is becoming fundamental to improving performance, strengthening security, and delivering the right customer experience.”

“As the leading broadband company in the country, Spectrum prioritizes understanding how devices interact with our network to ensure reliable service,” said Dave Rodrian, Senior Vice President of Connectivity Products at Spectrum. “Device-level intelligence powered by CUJO AI is essential to delivering a consistent, high-quality connectivity experience for our customers and their devices.”

CUJO AI uses artificial intelligence models to identify and contextualize connected devices, including their type, manufacturer, model, and operating system. Its technology currently recognizes more than 72,000 device models.

This visibility helps network service providers distinguish between device-related, Wi-Fi, application, and wider network problems. Operators can use this intelligence to diagnose issues more accurately, automate customer care, detect security risks, and adapt network performance to the needs of different devices and applications.

Device intelligence also provides a foundation for more proactive and autonomous network operations. By understanding which devices are connected and how they are being used, operators can move from reacting to customer complaints toward detecting and resolving potential problems before they affect the customer.
