ABU DHABI, UAE, 10TH APRIL , 2025- The Emirates have signed a strategic deal with Google Cloud to enhance the cybersecurity infrastructure of the UAE, which is a significant step for cyber defense in the region.

This partnership, which was disclosed on Wednesday, seeks to employ cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and industry standards to promote resilience in the economy and society, both in the public and private sectors.

The UAE Cybersecurity Council confirmed the collaboration will include deployment of sophisticated threat detection, monitoring, and defense systems that operate in real-time and utilizing AI technology.

A prominent aspect of the partnership is the alliance for a comprehensive regional workforce development program aimed at training and educating new cybersecurity specialists in the area.

Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, the Cybersecurity Chief for the UAE Government stated,

“This alliance enhances our capabilities on protecting digital assets of the nation, as well as the national infrastructure.”

According to the agreement, Google Cloud will be setting up a regional cybersecurity hub in Abu Dhabi which will serve as the primary center for cyber threat intelligence, rapid response to security breaches, and collaborative innovation.

The hub will also carry out cyber exercises and opened knowledge-sharing seminars to enhance response capabilities across different sectors.

Phil Venables, Chief Information Security Officer at Google Cloud, said, “We are proud to partner with the UAE to build cyber resilience at scale.” “This collaboration underscores our commitment to protecting customers against evolving threats.”

According to officials, the new partnership comes as there is increased concern about the level and sophistication of cyberattacks aimed at critical infrastructure systems.

The partnership is meant to establish a safe digital space for economic development and technological innovation.

Although the financial aspects were not shared, the deal is in sync with the strategy of the UAE, which is trying to market itself as a global leader in cybersecurity and advanced technology.

Google Cloud will work with other private partners to administer training research and support certification programs through their Educational Partner universities and institutions.

“The UAE has a clear vision to become a global leader in cybersecurity, and Google Cloud is honored to be a foundational collaborator in building that future. Our shared goal represents a powerful combination of digital infrastructure, a hub for innovation, and a training ground for the next generation of cyber defenders”.
